The secret is finally out! I am very excited to announce that ‘Nails by Mii’ have arrived at Creating Harmony Holistic Therapies! A Product Range consisting of high quality, ethically sourced, vegan friendly ingredients designed to nurture Nails, Cuticles and Skin to deliver outstanding results. I have been looking for a long time for a range that fits in with Creating Harmony’s Ethos of Vegan Friendly, Natural Ingredients from Environmentally Minded Suppliers and I am very excited to have found and be working with Mii.
Mii was created by British Company Gerrard International, founded by Susan Gerrard. An expert Manicurist with over 30 years’ experience, she has played an instrumental role in the evolution of nail care technology.
Mii’s Prescriptive Treatments use formulas and ingredients that are:
- Antioxidant & Brightening – with ingredients such as Vitamin C, Rosemary, Blueberry and Buddleja Davidii (Wisteria)
- Calming and Soothing – with ingredients such as Chamomile, Witch Hazel and Thyme
- Nourishing – with Shae Butter, Argon Oil, Aloe Vera, Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil and Red Algae
Mii’s Statement Gel Polish is a professional ‘soak-off’ polish providing a long lasting, life proof manicure and pedicure. It can be easily removed without causing damage to the natural nail. Mii’s Gel Polishes care for and protect the natural nail throughout the manicure/pedicure life cycle from application all the way through to removal. Its formulas provide:
- Nourishment – in the form of their Superfruit Formula Yazu, Bacuri Oil and Vitamin E
- Extra Strength and Longevity – Polishes create a protective shield that helps support natural growth
- A perfectly dry paint in seconds – nails are instantly dry after curing in a LED Gel Lamp, manufactured by Mii Cosmetics
- Soft Gel Technology – Soft Gel Technology can be soaked off easily and offers greater flexibility when worn
- A Prescriptive Treatment – a treatment base coat can be applied underneath the gel paint to provide extra nourishment
- Super Shiny Finish – Mii Statement Gel contains initiators that keeps the polish appearing shiny throughout its life cycle
- A Long-Lasting Gel Manicure/Pedicure – with Polish lasting up to 21 days
Many of the Colours available in Statement Gel Polish are also available as Normal Nail Polish. Colour Confidence Nail Polish is fast drying, durable and delivers reliable colour quality and super shine. Enriched with nourishing Vitamin C, strengthening Vitamin A and lastly Vitamin E which prevents peeling and yellowing, these wonderful Polishes are also available as Manicure/Pedicure Treatments.
Launching on Thursday 14th September 2023, all Nail treatments will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
So…Why Mii?
As outlined in my introduction to Mii Cosmetics above, I wanted to choose a Nail Product Range that provided a high-quality finish but also to be as safe for the Natural Nail as possible. I also wanted a range that was environmentally minded and Mii Cosmetics certainly are that. They source their ingredients ethically and sustainably and their formulas are Vegan Friendly and none of their products are tested on animals. I have had previous experience of working with Mii Cosmetics Makeup during my time in the beauty industry and remembered their formula technology and high quality. This led me to choose them with confidence as the best fit for my business.
A Moment on Safety…
On April 14th 2023, the BBC launched an investigation into rising reports of allergic reactions to Gel Polish.
This was due to an ingredient known as HEMA (hydroxyethyl methacrylate) which is used as an adhesive in nail products. In the UK the legal limit for HEMA in nail products is no greater than 30%. Some Home Kits contain higher levels of HEMA which has led to greater risk of reaction.
Established nail companies, including Nails by Mii are formulated in the USA where HEMA legislation is very strict meaning that levels used within products produced there are low to minimal.
The other part to this investigation focused on UV lights, and found that not all Curing Lights (used to cure/dry the Gel Polish) had the right wavelengths or wattage (needs to be at 36 Watts to work effectively) to cure the Polish correctly. This meant that HEMA could then soak into the nail bed and surrounding skin causing allergies and skin sensitisation. No one Curing Lamp is suitable for every Gel Polish on the Market.
Nails by Mii use a 36-WATT LED CURING LAMP. LED is not as damaging to the skin as Ultraviolet Light (UV) and its Wavelengths make it more powerful so it can cure the gel more thoroughly. This Curing Lamp was manufactured by Mii and has to be used only in conjunction with their products. Having trained with SKCIN, a leading UK Skin Cancer Charity I was very aware of the damage UV ray exposure can do to the skin over time, which is why I wanted to make sure I used a LED Curing Lamp within my treatments.
At Creating Harmony Holistic Therapies, your safety is my upmost priority and I will make sure to keep abreast of any industry updates. A thorough consultation will be carried out with you to make sure that there are no allergies prior to proceeding with treatment.
Lastly, Points to Note…
Gel Removal Products used within our treatments are designed for the Mii Gel System Only. If you have had Gels applied at another salon or which are made by another manufacturer, please make sure they are removed prior to your treatment.
Statement Gel Polish, although immediately dry after application, is recommended to avoid all contact with heat including hot water/saunas for at least 2 hours after application. For this reason, booking this treatment alongside a Spa Package is NOT recommended.
